I booted up my Windows 7 VM today to get some work done, and I ran into an old familiar feeling: what the heck is Windows doing? I once used Windows on a daily basis, and I wondered this every time Windows booted up, when it was so slow, practically unusable. I do not run lots of tray start-on-startup applications. Never have. I certainly don’t have anything like that on my occasionally used VM for work. And yet, when I start Windows up it grabs 99% processor usage for a few minutes before it settles down. And it just started again (I have not opened any programs). What the heck is Windows doing?
