It’s possible I hate cats if and only if it isn’t necessary I don’t hate cats.

Kami-Sama no Memo-Chou
Kami-sama no Memo-Chou is the most interesting of the Japan summer season thus far. Not that I have watched everything by any stretch of the imagination. I especially like Alice, the NEET detective. Which I am still unsure how a NEET detective differs from a regular detective, even after the explanation in Ep1. Unless a NEET detective is a hacker, in which case, I don’t know why they...

Return
I am going to be returning to my blog. Now this tumblog is more of a repo for personal rants and raves, editorials about things that interest me, and an opportunity to talk extensively about things which I know very little about. My other, more formal blog, is for technical and security information. You can find that about here. I would say that I am generally well informed about those topic....

Final Exam Review
Open Book/ Open Note - no electronic devices! Be very clear about what specific answers you are giving. No more than a dozen lines of code at a time. Some questions will be specific on the amount of code you can write. No multiple choice or true false. There will be lots of looking at code and saying what is wrong with it. Do the exit survey!!

The Humble Pencil, The Mighty Computer
viafrank:
Creative people tend to romanticize their tools. We place them on pedestals as the conduits for our ideas and the enablers of our craft. Contrastingly, though, I think all creatives believe that a good tool does not make a good designer, and a good designer does not need top-of-the-line special tools. In fact, I’d say all one usually needs is a pencil and a sheet of paper. With that,...

A Familiar Feeling
I booted up my Windows 7 VM today to get some work done, and I ran into an old familiar feeling: what the heck is Windows doing? I once used Windows on a daily basis, and I wondered this every time Windows booted up, when it was so slow, practically unusable. I do not run lots of tray start-on-startup applications. Never have. I certainly don’t have anything like that on my occasionally used...

My iPad
I always have my iPad with me or very close to me. You can ask my wife. It is almost a sickness really. Why? I think that my reason speaks to the allure of the iPad. I am always using it. All the time.

Delight in App Upgrades
I take a look this morning at my App Store upgrades, and imagine my delight when I find that Textastic has its upgrade now available with these lines in the update notes ‘full screen’ and ‘Text Expander support’. I knew this was coming down the pipe, but how happy I was to see it today. Also today Limechat had a nice little upgrade with this line in the notes...

On Google Play
I read an interesting article by Seth Godin on deliberately uninformed people. You can read it here. It was thought provoking. The very next item was an animated GIF of a monkey riding a goat. No kidding.
This is the Internet.
If you don’t know what Google Play is, you can try it here.

Yesterday was a good day. Who wouldn’t want to stream Pandora while in the bathroom reading the first issue of I Rule the Night? I was, uh, brushing my teeth. The iPad OS 4.2 beta is to the iPad as brakes are to cars. Sure, you can make due without it, but it just wouldn’t be the same. And…

I really wish that this idea would take off even more than it already has. This app is a true example of out of the box thinking that actually works.
